Limited Registration:

Because Spear-Bar kennels is extremely concerned with its reputation as a breeder of quality puppies, its puppies are sold with access only to limited AKC registration. This means that while the puppy itself can be registered with the AKC, no offspring of the puppy is eligible for registration. Why? Just imagine the dismay of a kennel owner after making the huge investment of time, effort and money necessary to start and run a quality kennel and the amount of time, work, expense and dedication which goes into producing quality puppies only to have someone purchase a puppy then breed it to inferior mates simply for financial reasons resulting in inferior, ill or genetically defective puppies and then proudly claiming the kennel in their puppies' pedigrees! This would certainly damage the hard-earned reputation of the kennel and adversely affect the price the kennel is able to sell its puppies for in the future not to mention negating all the kennels expense and hard work to improve the breed.
